Carrie is a caring, patient, enthusiastic, and energetic music teacher from Hong Kong. She started playing the piano at the age of 6 and graduated from Douglas College in British Columbia with a Music Diploma in 2024, earning a high cumulative GPA of 4.23,
Dean’s List honors every semester, multiple scholarships, and the Music Award of Distinction (Walter G. Robertson Memorial). Carrie holds ATCL (2006) and LTCL (2009) piano performance diplomas from Trinity College London, both with distinction, as well as an ABRSM Grade 8 cello certification with distinction.
With over 18 years of teaching experience, Carrie specializes in piano, cello, music theory, and ear training for students of all ages. She has also gained rich experience as a piano accompanist, supporting students of various instruments, choirs, and jazz bands. Many of her students have excelled in competitions, including the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, earning top placements. In 2023, she served as the principal cellist for part of the season with the New Westminster Symphony Orchestra.
Carrie’s teaching approach emphasizes skill-building and fostering a lasting appreciation for music. She strives to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students are encouraged to progress at their own pace. She adapts her lessons to suit each student’s individual needs, ensuring a balanced approach that promotes both discipline and creativity. Carrie’s goal is to help students improve their musical abilities while developing a genuine passion for music.
